He attended Stagedoor Manor Performing Arts Training Center and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in film from Northwestern University. His acting career began at the New York City’s Public Theater. He is best known for his role as J.D. Dorian on the TV show Scrubs of which he has been nominated for seven Golden Globes and an Emmy Award.
He wrote, directed and starred in the film Garden State and also served as the compilation producer for the soundtrack which he won a Grammy Award for Best Compilation Soundtrack For A Motion Picture.
Braff is a patron for the American Red Cross.
