He won a Golden Globe in 2001 for his performance in O Brother, Where Art Thou? and both a Golden Globe an Academy Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in 2005 for Syriana.
Clooney is involved with Not On Our Watch organization and is active in advocating a resolution of the Darfur conflict. In 2008, Clooney was appointed a “Messenger of peace” by the United Nations.
